Helen Watson

Chair Person

Helen works in governance across the non-profit sector in Nelson. In addition to the Workstar board, she is currently Chair of the Victory Primary School Board of Trustees, as well as the newly appointed Chair of Victory Community Centre. She is on the board of the Safeguarding Children’s Initiative and is a member of the Governance Group for Te Kāhui Ako ki Whakatū. In her spare time, Helen works as a researcher in the health sector.  

Caroline Heissner


Caroline is an HR manager in the retail sector and is currently studying a Bachelor of Business at Massey University. She brings a passion for employment relationship and management to WORKSTAR. Caroline was born and raised in the Tasman area, later living in Wellington and abroad. 


Ben has 15 years as a senior operations manager with a diverse range of experience including DNA technologies, genomics, quantitative genetics, animal health, macro animal production testing, national and international logistics and warehousing, dairy nutritionals manufacturing and now the bioenergy sector. Ben has previously held roles at Fonterra running the southern hemispheres largest Dairy Distribution centre, and was enlisted to help Fonterra rebuild their Infant formula production team post WPC80.  In 2017, the former plant manager at Fonterra’s Canpac shifted his family across New Zealand to join as an Executive Board member of the renewable energy business, Azwood Energy.
Ben is an Associate Member of the Institute of Directors and now brings his experience of lean manufacturing, culture of continuous improvement and governance to the Workstar family.

Margot Harkness


Margot is a solicitor practising in Stoke. She has practised in both Auckland and Nelson and has a broad range of legal knowledge including family law, trusts and estate planning, estate administration and company law.
